AXA sponsors “Impact”, a new Road Safety Awareness documentary series on TV3.

It’s ironic drink driving did this to me and now I look drunk all the time. Haunting words from Michilín Feeney, who’s featuring in a TV campaign for Road Safety. Micilín, among others, expresses the heartbreaking human side to road accidents in the poignant 2 part documentary series “Impact” which airs on Monday March 22nd on  TV3 at 9pm.

Crashed carWhen stats and numbers are brought up in discussions on road accidents, we can conclude it’s a problem but it’s only when we experience the human side to such tragedy that lessons are learned and habits broken. This documentary series puts faces to these facts and figures and reminds us that such tragedies could strike any family in any town of Ireland.

Sponsored by AXA as part of their ongoing commitment to safer roads the documentary is presented by Gay Byrne and features many of the emergency services personnel working on the frontline, Gardaí, fire officers, medical personal and well as intimate stories from victims and families, with personal accounts of tragedy, guilt and regret.

Speeding, drink driving and other road safety concerns are examined in detail, with an emphasis on the human cost of driver error. I strongly urge you to watch the programme and let’s hope that Micilín’s story can reach out and impact on our actions and behaviours every time we get behind the wheel.
