St. Patrick’s Day 2010 celebrations – keep it green

LeprechaunShamrock St. Patrick's dayHappy St. Patrick's day from AXA

Grab your nearest shillelagh, shove some shamrock in your pockets and call on your nearest leprechaun (to be sure, to be sure!!)….St.Patrick’s Day is here.

If you are away from the emerald isle this Paddy’s day, don’t let your Irish eyes lament, lift up your tweed cap and revel in a sea of greenness. Why? – in an ingenuous stroke by Tourism Ireland many of the world’s most iconic buildings will be lit in green after the sun sets on St. Patrick’s Day.

Where? – The following famous landmarks will be donning the green of Ireland this year:

  • the Sydney Opera house
  • the Empire State building
  • the London Eye
  • the Sky Tower in New Zealand
  • CN Tower in Toronto
  • Munich Victory Gate in Germany

In one of the biggest showcases of Ireland, it will surely have Irish eyes smiling on 17th March. Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland states that ‘we aim to bring a smile to the world. The message is that there has never been a better time to visit the island of Ireland’. This initiative will hopefully bring some much needed tourism back to Ireland – find out more in an article written by the Irish Independent.

I wonder if St. Patrick thought about car insurance when he was driving all those snakes out of Ireland – bum! bum!….tish! When you have recovered from that joke, it would be worth considering AXA if you drive a ‘green’ car this Paddy’s day. And when I say a ‘green’ car, I don’t mean the colour green but a car that runs on bio-fuel or that is classed as a hybrid.

AXA currently insures nearly 1,000 ‘green’/eco cars and if you do have an eco-friendly car you could have cheaper car insurance with AXA. There are no snakes in the grass here, AXA offers 20% off their car insurance for customers that drive a hybrid/bio-fuel car. It pays to green with AXA.
