First ever wooden supercar- VIDEO

Did you hear about the wooden car with the wooden wheels and the wooden engine? It wooden go!

Luckily, the newly unveiled ‘Splinter Car’ – the world’s first super car to be made out of wood – has no such problems. You’d think a car made using wood would be a bit on the slow side, but incredibly this wooden wonder is actually faster than a Porsche or a Lamborghini! It can generate a staggering 700bhp from its twin supercharged, 4.6 litre V8 engine, almost 300bhp more than a Porsche 911.

This amazing piece of woodwork is due to hit the road this year but the company behind it, Joe Harmon design, have yet to decide on a price for their masterpiece.

Joe Harmon himself said: “Wood is a truly amazing material to work with. It has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than aluminium or steel, and it possesses a versatility that makes many different types of construction techniques possible. This is a super car designed to push boundaries and prove the potential of wood as a material.”

He added: “An F1 car could definitely be made from wood. Some extremely creative engineering would have to go into it to overcome the strength-to-weight and mould ability benefits of carbon fibre, but it’s definitely possible. Getting permission to race it would probably be a bigger challenge than engineering it. But it would be fun to try.”

You wouldn’t get “board” of this supercar!
